Before your appointment
-Do not workout on the day of the procedure
-Do not tan or have a sunburned face
-Do not take asprin, niacin, vitamin e, fish oils or NSAIDS 48 hours before procedure (please consult with your physician if any of the above is a prescribed regimen, do not discontinue without physician instruction)
-No alcohol or caffeine on the day of procedure
-No waxing, brow shaping or tweezing 48 hours before procedure
-No accutane within the last year, no exceptions
-The procedure appointment itself varies only slightly between brows, eyes and lips and will follow this general structure:
1. As per your consultation, I will measure, map and draw your brows, lips or eyeliner. I will not proceed until you are 100% comfortable and in agreement with the shape and look.
2. The area is prepped and a topical anesthetic is applied. This is allowed to sit in order to take effect. While you are relaxed and waiting with the anesthetic, I will prep my machine and necessary implements and also custom mix your pigment based on the consultation. I only use new, pre-sterilized needles and other disposables which will be removed from its packaging at your appointment for your observation.
3. Next, I will implant the permanent makeup pigments following the approved shape and technique while you are reclined comfortably in a dental chair. Post procedure for eyeliner and lips, I like to have you relax with an ice pack over the procedure site for about 15 minutes to minimize swelling, this is not necessary for brows. Generally, most procedure sites are likely swell, causing your immediate result to look disproportionate to the predraw. This is 100% a normal reaction to the procedure and will resolve during the healing process. Pigments also often look too dark and very crisp during the healing process. Again this is 100% normal and we ask you not to judge the color until fully healed.
4. Once complete, we will go over after care and follow up instructions and then you can be on your way! Proper aftercare is crucial to the healing and longevity of your permanent cosmetics.
Approximate Healing Timeline
-Days 1-2 Color is crisp and dark, approximatley 20-40% darker than your healed results will be. Minimal reddness and swelling on brows and eyeliner. Maximum swelling on lips.
-Days 3-5 Procedure sites have formed scabs and may begin to itch. Color continues to appear bold. Scabs may begin to crack and shed. DO NOT PICK.
Days 6-8 The procedure site is rapidly exfoliating and will shed on its own. The pigmented skin under the scab will appear light (lighter than healed color). Some clients feel as if their color has disappeared, this is normal.
Day 9-10 Most of the scabbing has fallen away. Brows may still appear too light.
Day 10+ The procedure site continues to heal and full color will continue to bloom through day 30 as the skin repairs itself.
6 weeks- You now have a healed foundation for your permanent makeup. Time for your perfecting appointment!
Your body chemistry, physical health, skin condition and lifestyle choices play a major role in the outcome of your permanent makeup.
